Sean F. Dalton
Prosecutor of Gloucester County
Sean F. Dalton graduated from Glassboro High School in 1980. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from James Madison University in 1984. In 1987, he graduated from the University of Bridgeport School of Law. In 1988, he completed a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Donald A. Smith in Woodbury, New Jersey.In November of 1993, Sean was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly for the 4th Legislative District encompassing parts of Gloucester and Camden Counties. In 1995, he was re-elected to the General Assembly, for a 2nd term. He was elected by his colleagues as an Associate Minority Leader for the General Assembly.
During his tenure in the General Assembly, Sean Dalton sponsored legislation addressing various diverse issues such as parole reform, auto insurance, conserving natural resources, as well as, preserving open space in the Gloucester County region. He was a strong advocate for Megan's Law and life sentences for 3rd time offenders.
Sean has served as Municipal Prosecutor for the Boroughs of Glassboro and Paulsboro as well as First Assistant County Counsel for the County of Gloucester.
On May 1, 2002, he was nominated by Governor Jim McGreevey as next Prosecutor for the County of Gloucester. On May 31st, he was sworn in and officially took office as the Prosecutor of Gloucester County.
Sean has followed in a long family history of public service. He is the youngest son of the former Glassboro Mayor, Bill Dalton, and the younger brother of the former Secretary of State and New Jersey State Senator, Daniel Dalton. He is a lifelong resident of Gloucester County.
